We knew the fallout from the Portland Police Bureau’s “leakgate” wouldn’t die, and now there’s a new development; Mayor Ted Wheeler has released a letter demanding Brian Hunzker resign from his role on the board of the Fire & Police Disability & Retirement (FPD&R) bureau. Check out Willamette Week’s writeup about the letter. (At time of publishing we haven’t been able to track down a full copy.)
The leakgate scandal has already sparked 4 separate investigations into corruption and subterfuge of the PPB. WWeek quoted the letter:
“The position of trustee is one of great responsibility, and great trust,” Wheeler wrote. “Given your recent resignation as President of the Portland Police Association and the basis stated in the announcement of your resignation, I believe it would be appropriate for you to also resign from your position on the FPD&R Board of Trustees. I request that you do so immediately.”

At time of publishing there was no response from Hunzeker or the FPD&R. And there’s still no word on the future status of Hunzeker’s employment at the Portland Police Bureau.
UPDATE 4/6/21: Hunzeker has now resigned from the board.
